Future Family
For over a decade I have developed an art practice grounded in performance for the camera with strangers I meet online. My latest series, Future Family, utilizes these performances to contextualize the confusing, violent, and unsettling intrusive thoughts that occupy my mind periodically. I find myself to be more honest with my emotions during the time I spend texting, talking in person, and having photoshoots with these individuals.  My time with them has become a haven where I’m free of judgment and discrimination. When we meet, the performances materialize spontaneously as our bodies collide and dance; a reflection of my morbid curiosities. The resulting photographs replay visual cues that signify irrational anger, frustration, and anxiety. I see my thoughts, contained in the images, muted but still stimulating my urges.
